Hard Working Hands
Oct 01, 2024
It's a new month and I feel so thankful and blessed to be alive, healthy, happy, and to have an incredible family.
How about you?
I am blessed to have an incredible husband who is my best friend and who supports me in all that I do. I am so blessed, honoured, and thankful to have 3 incredible kids that look up to me and that I love beyond measure. I am so thankful for our little teacup poodle Daisy who just brings so much joy into our home and fills our hearts with so much love.
I am so beyond grateful that I absolutely love the work that I do and that I am able to create anything I want for my life.
I sit here today with love, peace, joy, gratitude, and contentment in my heart.
That doesn’t mean to say that life won’t ever be busy or stressful at times or that I won’t have challenges or heartaches that come my way. It just means that I know who I am and I know that I am strong enough and wise enough to handle anything because I have unshakable faith and belief in myself and I have a strong, positive mindset and a clean and pure heart filled with good intentions.
So today, take a minute to pause. Breathe in. Breathe out.
Just think about how precious your life really is and how your next breath is never guaranteed.
Last night my youngest daughter and I were talking about our hands and how incredible they really are.
I know for myself many times I have looked at my hands and haven’t thought the nicest things about them. I’ve called my fingers fat and have wished many times for them to be different.
But after having this random and innocent conversation with my 7 year old, it truly made me appreciate my hands more than ever.
We all have hard working hands that do great work in this world.
They allow us to make the bed, brush our teeth, put on makeup, get dressed, make food, eat food, feed our babies, wipe their bums, wipe our bums, take care of things around the house, exercise, drive our kids to school, pay our bills, go shopping, travel, pull a suitcase through the airport, sip our morning coffee, and help others.
In my case they allow me to do what I truly love which is write books, write a blog post, light a nice smelling candle, do yoga, meditate, put in my earbuds, listen to good music, read books, spend time with my kids, pet my dog, and spend my days doing things that bring me joy like turning on the tv to watch a past episode of the Bachelorette, enjoying my favourite glass of red wine, decluttering and cleaning my space, redecorating for Halloween, or cleaning and organizing my home to perfection and the way that I like it.
Just think about what your life would look like if you didn't have hands to use. Crazy to think about right?
Today look at your hands and the magic that they’ve built and created in your own life and what they will continue to build and create for your life.
Give thanks for them, and the little things in life that we sometimes take for granted because I can tell you from my own life experiences that when you don't appreciate and take care of what you have right now, you'll never be given more.
Then while you’re at it be sure to treat yourself to a nice new manicure, a hand massage and some great smelling hand lotion. It works wonders for your soul.
Here’s to an incredible month and here’s to making it all you want it to be.
